Blogs Conclusion

When Mrs. Gilman told us that we would be doing these blogs for the rest of the year, I was nervous that this assignment would be hard, but it turned out alright. I saw imporvement in my writting and the voice I portray in the writing, as well as enjoyed reading other people's blogs because they put so much heart and soul into the blogs.

My writing style is very clear throughout all of the blogs I have written. I have a hard time starting sories and essay and the blog posts was espeshally difficult for me. All of my posts have an akward feel and in my writing I use a lot of "I" Statements for lack of anything better to say.

I really liked the post we had to do on a few Poetry Out Loud poems. When I focus on somebody else in a post like that the writing becomes very easy for me. It is like when I right about my passion, which happens to be the God I serve. I am very sorry if I bugged any of you by constentatly talking about and mentioning God and Jesus in my posts. It is just that I don't want to conceal Him or apper to be ashamed of trying to serve him and I am still learing how to show him i my actions.

Also, I liked posting on Great Expectations and Romeo and Juliet. I like the fun things that we planned for great expectations. Also, I like how we did the two question posts. They were very helpful to understand the novel and it was helpful to write the essay and to analyze it. I really liked the cultre shock post. It made me realize just how relevant the story is today and it was fasinating to see the impact Romeo and Juliet has made on society.

Essays and me

This year I learned so much more about essays. I have gotten better at writing them and analyzing. I know I can read any book and, given the motivation and time, can analyze it. I wouldn't call myself an accomplished essayist though. most people in the class write better essays than I do, but I am a lot better at it. Thank you Mrs. Gilman for helping me to understand how to write a good quality essay every time.

My essay is probably the best I have written yet, but part of my essay is failing to be mostly analysis rather than a summerary of the texts. This is simply because there is not a perfect concrete detail for this one point I am trying to prove, but I will get as much out of it as I can.

Summer Books

Well I have read every book in my shelf that was worth reading and I really have no idea what good books I can get my hands on during the summer.

However, I want to look for The Life of Pi from the reading list and Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen. I want to read The Life of Pi because it sounds very interesting. I read the blerb in the library and it pulled me in. I want to read Three Cups of Tea because this whole talk of Greg Mortensen and him coming to our school to talk with us and just the many description of what he did there, has inspired me to read his book and I haven't been able to get my hands on it.

If I don't read these books by the end of the school year, they are defenatly on my summer reading list.

Fate

According to the zodiac, I am a Virgo. Most of the information about this zodiac sign is accurate to me. For example: I do LOVE the earth and out doors, and will often be outside if I can. I do want to do the right thing all the time, but it's NOT because it comes naturally to me. I want to do the right thing because I am a christan and I want to do what my loving, holy God wants me to do. However, I often fail and do not represent him accuratly. I am not perfect and so even though I try, I often fail.

I do not believe that fate controls your future. You control your own destiny, or someone else does. Throughout act three scene four, Juliets parents try to control her fate and plan for her to marry Paris, even though they don't know her very well. Juliet will be a vicim of fate if she obeys her parents becuase she doesn't get to control her future. Those who base their lives off of these horiscopes might also be victems of fate because they are letting the stars control their fate.

Culture Shock

Description: A widower and a divorcee have a chance meeting at a business seminar and love develops. Both of there families are horrified because they are bitter rivals in the floral business.

This novel is like the play because there is a forbidden love and that is becase the families are rivals. I guess this would be the adult version of Romeo and Juliet.

skit prep.

One scene I would like to do in class is Pip's "fight" with the pale young gentleman because it is one of the few action scenes in the book. There is not a lot of thinking and sentiments in that scene, so it would be perfect to do in class

Another scene is when Pip goes to meet miss Havisham for the first time because it has action in it and it can actually be acted out. Plus, people can make miss Havisham's creepy voice.

Another scene I think would be good for a skit is the part in the novel when Magwich tells Pip and Herbert part of his history and is describing how he became partners with Comeyson and Arther hallucinated Miss Havisham and killed himself by it becaause it does have a lot of action.

Book Question #2

When Able Magwich is telling his story he taks about Arthur Compeysonand how mean and self-centered he is. The passage says he was once a convict too and Able says,"I had said to Compeyson that I'd smash his that face of his,..."(351) and also that Compeyson was on the marshes as well. That makes me wonder, is Arthur Compeyson the second convict that Pip meets on the marshes, and if so, how is he also Miss Havisham's fiance who left her at the alter?
